Shakira is one of the most popular and commercially successful Latin female pop singers in the music history. She was born Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll in 1977 in Barranquilla, Colombia. She grew up in the family of Colombia-born mother and Lebanese-born father. In 1990 Shakira signed her first music contract with Sony's Colombian division.
